Biography

I have been teaching Reading and Social Studies at Pinckney for 5 years. I will be celebrating my 20th wedding anniversary this June and plan to take a trip to Alaska to celebrate. My oldest daughter Brittany is in her third year of nursing at USC and lives in Columbia. My son Matt is in his first year at Trident and my youngest Megan attends Wando and is in ninth grade. Between the 60 students I work with at school each day and my home life, I am very busy!

Classroom Connections

While creating my digital story, I started thinking about how many ways students could use this technology in the classroom. I would love to start the school year off with a digital story about my life to introduce the students to me. In turn, I could have the students create their own life stories. Students could read each others and get to "really" know each other better.

In Social Studies, students could research an event, time or person and create a movie about it.For example, WWII is a large part of our curriculum. Students could decide on a specific topic under WWII and research it. They can turn their research into a movie about WWII and they could present it to the class or even upload it to a site that is used for student created work.

I am excited about creating new lessons for my students to use next year!
